The immaculate white storefront is a real eye-catcher. And as you step through the doorway of Il Gelato del Marchese, you're transported to the heart of the Italian Renaissance. Founded by a couple of Italian marquises, this elegant ice cream parlour in the 6th arrondissement is dedicated to unveiling the very best in Italian gelato. And to realize this, all you have to do is take a look at the multicolored tubs that stretch out before the eyes of gourmands, contrasting with the cream color and gilding that adorn the store.
On one side of the window are the ice creams. The most famous, the Iranian Pistachio, is a little marvel. But we must admit that the Piedmont hazelnut ice cream (as creamy as you could wish for), the Greek yoghurt ice cream (so delicate), the Madagascar Bourbon vanilla ice cream (shy at first, it reveals all its flavours at the end), the coffee ice cream (as powerful and straightforward as a shot of espresso) and the Croccante Fiorentino (hazelnuts, almonds and sesame seeds caramelized with honey) also swept us off our feet, with their delicacy and lightness.
And then there are the sorbets, and not the least: Lemon and Mint (ultra-fresh and perfect for hot summer days), Blueberry (surprisingly smooth and creamy), Mango (sweet and true to the fruit)... But our gold medal goes unquestionably to the Passion Fruit sorbet, full of pep, slightly acidic and, above all, with passion fruit seeds that crunch under the tooth!
While there are some classic flavors, other more unusual ones are sure to arouse your curiosity:Parmigiano, Gorgonzola, Tomato Basil and even... Foie Gras! Surprising flavors for an ice cream parlour, but we guarantee it's worth the detour.
It has to be said that at Il Gelato del Marchese, flavors are the fruit of extensive research. The result is ice creams and sorbets that are handcrafted, very light and just the right amount of sweetness to honor fresh produce and reveal its flavors. No crazy combinations here. Only ice creams and sorbets with strong personalities, based on a single raw ingredient, worked to perfection.
To complete the Il Gelato experience, the store offers its customers the chance to taste these little frozen marvels in a homemade cone, made before their very eyes! We've tasted them, and we can tell you without a doubt that nothing beats an artisanal cone.
At Il Gelato del Marchese, you go in empty-handed and come out with a cornet in your hand and your eyes sparkling like children!
