If you're looking for an original place with an exotic atmosphere, then go to the 9th district of Paris to discover Rouge à Lèvres. As soon as you enter, you feel like you're on vacation with the dimmed lights, the tree inside, the garlands of lights and the pretty flowery boudoir. It must be said that the owner, Serge Ahovey, was inspired by his many trips to Bali to create a unique, exotic and ultra welcoming atmosphere, just like the staff who are attentive to our needs from the moment we arrive.
Once comfortably installed, all you have to do is take a look at the tempting menu which focuses on Asian recipes, but not only. Some regulars of the district will notice very quickly that the dishes are identical to those proposed at Vert Sauvage, located just next door. Come on, sit down, we'll tell you the story. Eight years after opening La Mangerie, his first establishment in Paris, Serge took on a new challenge with a second place with a more feminine touch. Le Rouge à Lèvres was born in spring 2019. Faced with the success and the certain craze, Serge sees even bigger and decides to set up, two steps away, a new and third address, Le Vert Sauvage. The two establishments share the same cuisine and the same menu. On the other hand, the decoration changes. If you see life in red, we can only advise you to go to Le Rouge à Lèvres, where we were able to savor delicious dishes, all as tempting as each other. The plus? A beautiful wine list with a hundred references!
Accompanied by good vintages coming from different vineyards, the dishes of Le Rouge à Lèvres are cooked with love and seduce all the palates: the lovers of Asian flavors with, for example, melting shrimp ravioli, sesame dumplings and corn cream, or a tasty gua bao with chicken, peanuts and coriander We also liked the poached egg with grilled pastrami and matured cheddar, as well as the beef tataki with creamy carrots and pak choi.
Charcuterie and cheese lovers will be more interested in the white ham with truffle and the creamy burrata with grilled butternut and hazelnuts. Also on the menu? Organic Thai jasmine rice, a pumpkin velouté or a fine quinoa pie. In total, about fifteen tapas are there to make you fall in love. The hardest part will be choosing!
And for those with a sweet tooth, chocolate mousse, almond financier and cookies are in a duel. Finally, the tiramisu - with red fruits of course - will seduce us!
Proof of its fame, the Rouge à Lèvres now has a little brother. Located in the heart of the Burgundian village of Beaune, this establishment also offers tapas, as well as more than 100 references of wines, whose selection was entrusted to Raphaël Pusset, a wine merchant from the region.
While waiting to go to Beaune one day, discover the Parisian Rouge à Lèvres, located in the 9th district!
