At Chez Loup, the large brasserie in the 1st arrondissement open all day, a young chef has chosen to give pride of place to home-made products, prepared with organic, seasonal and well-sourced ingredients.

It's no secret that many of the capital's big brasseries are content to serve their customers frozen or canned food, and often don't even smile. Fortunately, there are some brasseries that continue to put good food at the center of the plate, like Brasserie Loup in Paris's 1st arrondissement.

Open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight and serving drinks and food non-stop, Loup has had a facelift. Inside, you'll find a chic, modern brasserie, with a large moose head on the wall, exposed stonework, pretty globes of light, and seats at the counter, on the table d'hôte or on the banquettes. Outside, a (very) large covered and heated corner terrace, perfect for winter lunches.

In the kitchen, a young chef has taken it upon himself to revamp the entire menu, giving pride of place to homemade dishes. Here, the team uses organic produce whenever possible, well-sourced meats and fresh produce. The result is simple, comforting grandma-style cooking .

On the menu, fine cuts of meat roasted before your very eyes, right behind the counter, classic Parisian brasseries (escargots, rillettes, oysters, tartars, burgers), healthy dishes for those interested (poké bowls, salads), and a rather affordable lunch menu: €21 starter/main course or main course/dessert.

With winter just around the corner, you'll love the onion soup (9€) with its string cheese, the generous slice of homemade foie gras mi-cuit (15€), or the 2020 version of cordon bleu with white wine cream and buttery homemade purée. The 300-gram Basque pork loin (25€), roasted on the spot, is sure to please even the biggest appetites.

We accompany it all with a glass of organic wine and finish with a homemade dessert too - an apple tartlet for us. Yummy!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
