Montecito is the name of the new Californian restaurant that has just opened its doors in the Opéra district of Paris, within theHotel Kimpton St Honoré Paris.
Don't be afraid to step inside: the restaurant, located on the first floor, is open to the public from the Boulevard des Capucines. At its heart is a pretty hidden patio. The decor is by Humbert & Poyet, with high, luminous ceilings.
On the plate, French chef Nicolas Pastot and his American sidekick in Paris, Carrie Salomon, offer healthy dishes that combine with American generosity. The emphasis here is on conviviality and sharing, with fish and meat dishes to share.
On the menu: ceviche, poke, Loabster Pasta , Grilled fish tacos and the famous Ribs. We're going to love discovering the à la carte dishes! On our visit, we were delighted by the Tostadas langoustine, rich in flavors and spices.
Ideal for vegetarians or vegans, the restaurant has several dishes adapted to their needs, such as these delicious Rolls Royce, spring rolls with crunchy vegetables and satay sauce.
There's also the Soba Raffraichi, featuring buckwheat pasta, vegetable dashi, candied eggplant, grilled zucchini, togarashi ginger pickles and seaweed vinaigrette. A lovely discovery to make.
Our favorite is the San Francisco Cioppino, which combines pollack, scampi, shellfish, chorizo and fennel, all served with garlic bread. A richly flavored broth and a lovely marriage of land and sea, we love it.
And if you're a bon vivant, don't worry: there's plenty to delight meat lovers too. BBQ Ribs and Tomahawk Beef are on the menu for gourmets who want to share.
Finally, the desserts. We opt for the generous blueberry cheesecake, the raspberry dessert of the day and the Intense vanille-chocolat des Belles Envies, the famous sugar-free pastry.
On the bar side, the Montecito has plenty to please you too. A fine selection of Californian wines awaits you, as well as French vintages and wines from other horizons to take your taste buds on a journey. Most of the wines are biodynamic, which is to be commended. The cocktails are not to be outdone, with both classics and fine signature creations to discover, including a fine new selection of 30 Bourbon references.
At the helm of the bar is Jonathan, the Mixologist, who will awaken your taste buds with his creations.
In short, if you want to have a good time, remember to make a reservation!
