In the heart of the Halles district of Paris, Melt, the eternal specialist in Texas-style smoked meats in its three Parisian restaurants, unveils its new concept: Deli by Melt, a delicatessen inspired by those famous grocery stores where New Yorkers flock to eat quickly and simply.
The two friends Jean and Paul are at the origin of Melt. They fell under the spell of Texas-style smoked meats in New York, were trained by the best pit masters in Texas, and were convinced that it was necessary to import the Texas barbecue to the capital. Bingo! After a first address in Oberkampf in 2016, it is in Batignolles and Cambronne that the two other Melt of Paris opened.
Without giving up on its famous smoked meats, Melt is now tackling another pillar of American street food, delicatessen, and all the traditional recipes with Ashkenazi Jewish influences that go with it. In a retro 70's setting with mustard tones, Deli by Melt offers a selection of sandwiches with beautiful smoked meats.
Alongside the pastrami sandwich, the sauerkraut sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich, great classics of the previous addresses, Deli by Melt unveils many new items, and each one is naughtier than the next.
The char siu belly (12€) with smoked pork belly and fresh flavors close to those of banh mi thanks to vegetable pickles and coriander - which we would have liked to have been even more generous, we must admit - and the smoked beef cheek sandwich (14€) with white kimchi - so no chili - and a fish sauce caramel.
Smoked roast beef, smoked and spicy yellow chicken and portobello mushroom banh-mi style for vegetarians will satisfy all appetites, accompanied by original sides (4€) - creamy potato salad, honey lacquered cornbread, baked potato with bacon or fried kale.
For dessert, you can choose between two sweet treats: ice cream or cookies. All you have to do is choose!
