If you've always dreamed of living in the Paris of yesteryear and tasting the delights of yesteryear, you've come to the right place, because the San Régis, the 5-star hotel located in the Golden Triangle, has set up Le Grand Diner, an experience offered from Wednesday to Saturday evenings that invites Parisians and visiting tourists to step back into the splendor of the Belle Epoque.
On the carpeted floor between the walls steeped in history, under the gaze of the paintings hanging on the wall, you take your seat in the restaurant's richly decorated dining room, with itsintimate yet friendly atmosphere, supported by attentive service.
Sisters Zeina and Sarah Georges, co-directors and owners of the San Régis, have imagined this out-of-this-world moment that focuses on French gastronomy in all its generosity andelegance.
Inspired by the great receptions of the Belle Epoque, and in particular the Dîner des Trois Empereurs held during the 1867 Universal Exhibition at the Café Anglais in Paris, Le Grand Diner is a dinner for friends and family.
Featuring exceptional products from France's finest artisans and producers (lobster, lamb, champagne and caviar, to name but a few), the dishes to be shared are arranged in the center of the table, in a spirit of sharing and conviviality.
The work of chef Michele Fanciullo, who trained at the Hôtel Georges V under two-starred chef David Bizet, the menu is priced at €125/person - €235/person with food and wine pairings - and comprises 6 courses that build to a crescendo.
The Le Grand Diner menu not only allows you to savor the finest products, it also puts great French recipes back at the center of the plate, with particular attention paid to juices and sauces, some of which have unfortunately fallen into disuse over time.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, Le Grand Diner is like a moment suspended in time. If the restaurant's gilded, molded setting could have given rise to fears of an overly stuffy atmosphere, this is not the case. Here, chic is enjoyed in a friendly, generous atmosphere.
