And that's five for Linda Lee! After On the Bab, MariMari, Misu and Sétopa, the papess of K-Food in Paris opens On, a modern Korean barbecue restaurant. By modern, we mean different in atmosphere from Sam Chic and most other Korean BBQ restaurants, which focus more on the friendly, good-natured aspect of this totem dish of Korean cuisine.
Linda Lee 's On, on the other hand, boasts a hushed, quieter ambience, far removed from the canteen atmosphere of the aforementioned addresses, and a meticulous decor in shades of green and bronze - with even small individual hoods on each table to guarantee less grill odor on clothes.
All in all, a contemporary setting and refined dishes, based around a single dish: Korean barbecue. Prime rib, chicken in spicy sauce (€20), bulgogi marinated beef (€22), pork belly or shrimp and vegetables, it's served here in different versions, each with a focus on marinating quality meats.
Each grill is served with its own salad, sauces, assorted banchan (kimchi, pickles and other pickled vegetables), as well as a Korean-style gyeran-jjim, the famous small steamed omelette. The quality of the products is undeniable, and can be felt in every bite.
We can't recommend enough that you work up an appetite with steamed ravioli (14€) topped with shrimp, tofu and egg, and fried pork fritters (15€) topped with sweet-and-sour sauce, with barbecues served just right to satisfy the appetite.
An ideal restaurant for those who want to enjoy a Korean barbecue in the quietest of surroundings, without resorting to folklore.
