After Christian Dior, Thierry Mugler and Elsa Schiaparelli, Paris' Musée des Arts Décoratifs has announced its next "headliner" for November 2023: Iris Van Herpen.
A tribute, then, to the Dutch designer who is celebrating the 15th anniversary of her eponymous couture house, with an exceptional retrospective exhibition to be seen from November 29, 2023 to April 28, 2024.
Made famous by her sculptural, futuristic collections, the innovative designer notably won the coveted ANDAM prize in 2014, rewarding her out-of-the-ordinary universe, which has also been the subject of several exhibitions around the world.
For this new showcase, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs looks back at all the creations, materials and know-how that have madeIris Van Herpen famous: 3D-printed dresses, laser cutting and other innovative technologies will be in the spotlight!
"From the micro to the macro, the exhibition examines the body's place in space, its relationship with clothing and its environment, and its future in a rapidly changing world," says the museum in a press release.
This anniversary retrospective will combine some 100 of her creations with contemporary works, installations and photographs, along an itinerary organized around 8 major themes. Along the way, an immersive space will reveal Iris Van Herpen's Amsterdam design studio and broadcast her fashion shows.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs invites you to plunge into the fascinating, fantastical world of the designer. Will you join us?
