The Journées Nationales de l'Architecture are back! From October 18 to 20, 2024, Paris and the Île-de-France region have a festival of cultural highlights in store for you, dedicated to architecture. From classic heritage to ultra-modern design, everything is here to delight lovers of beautiful stone (and concrete!). What's more, most events are free, so why miss out? Guided tours, creative workshops and surprise events are on the program for the whole family.
As every year, iconic sites such as the Cité de l'Architecture lead the way. But did you know that there are more unusual spots? Focus on the Récollets, a former 17th-century convent tucked away in Paris's 10th arrondissement, near the Gare de l'Est train station. This historic site, to be transformed in 2023 into an international center for artists and researchers, is also home to the Maison de l'Architecture and the offices of the Ordre des Architectes d'Île-de-France.
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, two free workshops combining play and a love of architecture will be offered at Les Récollets, a great opportunity to explore this iconic site.
Aimed at children (aged 3 and over) and their parents, theKapla Workshop introduces them to architecture through the Kapla construction game. Together, they'll build structures inspired by architecture, from bridges to building facades, castles and landscapes. A fun activity to develop imagination and understanding of architectural forms.
Two "sessions" are available on reservation, one in the morning at 10:30am, and one in the afternoon at 2pm, so that more people can take part!
