This year, as elsewhere in France, the Loubavitch movement in the Hauts-de-Seine region is once again organizing public Hanukkah lightings in a number of towns to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. In 2023, Hanukkah runs from December 7 to 15, and in keeping with tradition, Jews around the world will light a new candle from the famous Hanukkah candlestick every evening. And since it's a moment of gathering and communion, we might as well do it in public!
The 92 department is one of the few in the Ile-de-France region to offer public lighting every day it's possible, i.e. all week long, except Fridays, when the entrance to Shabbat prevents the event.
