Like every year, the Loubavitch movement in France is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Hanukkah. This year, the Jewish holiday takes place from December 7 to 15, and as elsewhere in France, public lightings are planned in several towns in the Val-d'Oise.
Yes, at Hanukkah, Jews the world over traditionally light the eight branches of a candlestick, the hanukiah, with a new branch every evening, at dusk, to commemorate the miracle of the lights, which we explain here. These public lightings are open to all, and free of charge.
