The Société Protectrice des Animaux is announcing the return of its "adoption open days", and is preparing to welcome you on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October 2024 to one of its 64 shelters across France, including six in the Paris region. An opportunity to adopt one of the 7,000 animals currently taken in by the association.

Do you dream of having a fur ball at home? A cat that snuggles up to you as you fall asleep? A dog that runs beside you while you jog? Or even a new pet? The animal that will be sharing your home and your life tomorrow may be at the SPA. On Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, 2024, the Société Protectrice des Animaux will be opening the doors of its 64 shelters and Maisons SPA throughout France for the return of its"open days " to encourage responsible adoption.

Some 7,000 animals (dogs, cats and new pets) are waiting to beadopted at .

As the SPA points out in a press release published on September 16, the summer season once again saw a large number of animals abandoned, " with 7,951 animals taken in by its structures in July and August alone, combined with a 5.8% drop in adoptions compared with 2023 ".

To coincide with these new open doors, the SPA is launching a new campaign on the theme of the physical and mental well-being provided by the"Man-Animal" relationship.

" These Open Doors are an essential moment to remind people of the importance of responsible adoption and to continue our fight against abandonment, which has taken its toll on our teams again this summer. This campaign is an opportunity to share common values with the support of our partners and all those who have a pet or are planning to have one. Adopting encourages physical activity, releases endorphins, improves emotional well-being... I'm convinced of this, and we hope that the public will be there, " declared Jacques-Charles Fombonne, President of the SPA, in the same press release.

These two new "open days " are an opportunity to meet the animals up for adoption, as well as the team of volunteers and salaried staff, and the youth club. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have: how to become a volunteer, foster, adopt, help, donate...

In addition, the conditions for adopting an animal have changed since October 2022. " The future adopter must now complete and sign a certificate of commitment at least seven days before going to the shelter and adopting an animal," reminds the SPA, which specifies that he or she must therefore present it to the shelter on the day of adoption.
