In an interview with Le Parisien, Ile de France president Valérie Pécresse has announced the opening of six metro lines and three tramway lines all night long.
The aim? “Making Ile de France inhabitants want to go out again by night and in the weekend in Paris” Valérie Pécresse told Le Parisien.
Starting this September 2019, some metro stations on line 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 14 as wel as the tramway lines 2, 3a and 3b will remain open with a metro every 10 minutes and a tramway every 20 minutes.
So far, these night openings of metro and tramway lines are put to the test a Saturday per month, for six months, between September 2019 and March 2020. Valérie Pécresse explains:“We will draw up a report after a 6-month test and we will decide if we need to make these Saturday openings viable or larger”. By the way, the dates of these tests have been announced. The Parisian metro will be open all night long on March 14, 2020.
Here are the metros involved, as said by IDF Mobilités:
Valérie Pécresse also added that “it is not possible to open the metro 24 hours a day because of the many maintenance works carried out by the RATP. There are over 400 of them every day”.
To be continued!
