After catching fire on April 15, 2019 and the renovation work stopped in July, Notre Dame de Paris slowly resumes works this Monday August 19. The structure is said to be consolidated prior to the major renovation starting in 2020.

The renovations on Notre Dame de Paris are resuming! After stopping in july because of a lead contamination risk, the Parisian monument renovation is resuming this Monday August 19, 2019. Works have been validated by the labor inspection after checking the protocols and procedures multiple times set up for the workers.

But what protocols and procedures are we talking about? Simply about safety measures including footbaths, disposable apparel, admission badges and showers to make sure lead dust don't scatter outside the work site. Note that consolidation works and not restoration works, with the installation of soffits under the flying buttresses as well as temporary ceilings above as well as below the vault - among others. Reconstruction works are said to start in the first semester of 2020.

For the reminder, the cathedral caught fire on Monday April 15, 2019 towards 6:50 p.m. reaching the spire of the 1000-year old building then the roofing before the firefighters finally controled the fire a few hours laters, circa 10 p.m. The building was just beginning to be renovated.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
