Watch out… Change of scenery! The Champs-Elysées will be remade for 250 million euros, the necessary amount to make of the 1.9-km avenue of the extraordinary gardens in Paris.
It is architect Philippe Chiambaretta who has been entrusted with creating the possibly new layout. A unique work that arrives when the image of the Champs-Elysées has never been this deteriorated before. About 40% of Ile de France inhabitants think that calling it the “world’s most beautiful avenue” is not legitimate.

The aim of these recommendations? “Reenchanting” one of Paris or even France’s most emblematic window displays! So, by 2024 – the very awaited year of the Olympics in Paris – the number of lanes is said to be divided by two and sidewalks will be fitted according to the exposure. So many changes putting pedestrians to the heart of the layout concerns! All this while reducing the presence of cars, obviously…

So, pedestrians can walk all along the avenue while enjoying much more space, not only in normal time, but also during certain moments of the day, especially during rush hours. In the same vein to give more power again to pedestrians on the avenue, the legendary Place de l’Etoile will even seen its rim accentuated again. The architecture office endeavored to imagine the place transformed according to the seasons!

In the winter, a giant ice-skating rink will be set all around the Arc de Triomphe – like the one set just under the Eiffel Tower every year. Parisians, tourists and winter sport lovers will be absolutely delighted.

Between the Place de la Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe, down the avenue, the project includes new spaces linking the different parks and gardens together, including to multiple green spaces the Petit and the Grand Palais of “Beaux Arts” architectural style. A way to give life again to green spaces in which tourists and Parisians often show no interest.
According to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, this major urban planning project is still on the go in 2021. In an interview with JDD, issued on January 10, 2021, she confesses: "All our projects have two phases: before and after 2024, because many places will be used for the Games. [...] For the Champs-Elysées, we'll remake the Concorde before the Games, and then the entire avenue, it will be another extraordinary garden".
Works alo apply to the Trocadéro-Eiffel Tower road turned into a garden, the Montparnasse Tower and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The town councillor yet does not share dates of these renovations.
