One of the most drastic measures to suppress Coronavirus! This Thursday March 12, 2020 in a televised address to the nation, French President Emmanuel Macron has a just announced to shut down crèches, schools, junior highs, high schools and universities until further notice.
“For our collective interests, as from Monday, and until further notice, crèches, junior high schools, high schools and universities will be closed for a simple reason: Our children and young people are the ones who spread the virus the quickest even if they have no symptoms.” Emmanuel Macron explains. He continues: “It is both to protect and curb the spread of the virus throughout our territory. A day-care service will be set up region by region. We will find the right organizations”.
Parents will have to get organized from Monday to keep or have their children kept while waiting for more measures from the President. Anyway, for parents who have to stay home to take care of their children, Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer reminds us all that the Ministry of National Education can give a certificate and that this situation will have no financial impact for them.
Note that Corsica has already closed schools on March 11, 2020 so did Oise with several schools closed for several days and the Tolbiac university in Paris since March 12.
