This summer's weather has certainly been a mixed bag, with rainy weeks leading to record rainfall, and a few hot spells. Unlike last year, the Île-de-France region didn't suffer much from the heatwave during these summer months, but for the past few days we've been under a heat dome, which affects a good part of the region. The capital is the only department in the region to have been placed on yellow alert, for its higher risks.
The heatwave is set to last until Wednesday, before temperatures drop sharply. It is therefore the hottest of the summer of 2023, and also one of the latest events of the season, requiring particular vigilance. This Sunday, August 20, temperatures are not expected to exceed 30 degrees in the capital, while they will reach between 38 and 41 degrees over a large part of the south and east of the country, which has been placed under orange vigilance.
Wednesday promises to be the hottest day in Paris, with 32 degrees forecast. The reason why only the capital has been placed on the alert, unlike other départements, is that Parisians are more vulnerable to heatwaves, due to the city's heat islands .
Be vigilant during these hot spells, avoid going out at the most exposed times, and watch out for dehydration in particular.
