Following the spectacular floods, the Seine riverbanks are seeing the level water decrease. Paris cleaning staff members have initiated the ways evacuation work. In south-west Paris, banks opened to cars and pedestrians again from Tuesday February 16, 2021. Cleaning officers are working hard to sweep the banks in downtown Paris.

Ongoing Seine riverbanks cleaning. Since Tuesday February 16, 2021 Parisians can once more enjoy some of the Seine riverbanks between the Bir Hakeim and the Garigliano bridges. The partial reopening of banks has been made possible thanks to work completed by Paris cleaning officers working hard since Monday February 15 to remove dirt and waste carried by the water.

After a major floor, the authorities qualified as “usual for the season” but that led to a 4.5m rise in the water level, the Seine riverbanks ended up entirely flooded. Some of them have been therefore closed and vessel traffic has also been forbidden.

Furthermore, most of the Seine riverbanks are still closed to pedestrians and cars. A wide cleaning operation is going on both banks of the river.

Tweet reads: “As the Seine keeps on dropping off the water level, Paris cleaning officers have been cleaning the banks since this afternoon. Banks reopen tomorrow between the Bir Hakeim and Garigliano bridges, they are removing dirt, cleaning, and vacuuming waste

This Monday February 15, the Seine decreased to 3.3m, as the measuring station set by the Austerlitz railway station said, results are available on Vigicrue. The water level is almost back to normal, and ultimately enables cleaning officers to work hard to give the Seine riverbanks all their glory. Now, as Paris deputy mayor for cleaning Colombe Brossel tweeted, cleaning officers are cleaning their way to “downtown Paris” and are to clean the banks by the Tuileries and the Henri IV bridge.
