June is just around the corner ! While this month heralds the return of fine weather (at least, we very much hope so) and the arrival of summer, it also has a number of new features and notable changes in store for us that are not to be overlooked. Let's take a look at the main changes that come into effect in June 2024.
The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has announced a further increase in gas prices on June 1, 2024. The benchmark price per kilowatt-hour will rise by two euros per MWh, or 2.3% excluding taxes, from 75.76 euros to 77.62 euros per MWh. With taxes, the increase is 1.8%, taking the cost from 111.19 euros to 113.19 euros per MWh. This increase follows the one on May 1, and an annual revision in July could add between 5.5% and 10.4% to the bill.
Paper tax returns closed on May 21. Online declarations for départements 1 to 19 ended on May 23. For départements 20 to 54, the deadline was May 30, while départements 55 to 976 have until 11:59pm on June 6 to finalize their online returns. Tax notices will be available from the end of July.
As of June 1, France's " 3DS " law requires all roads and dwellings, including localities, to be addressed. Every road must now bear a name, and every dwelling a unique number, facilitating the deployment of fiber optics, emergency services and mail delivery. In 2023, 1.8 million French people were still without a precise address.
The Pass'Sport, a 50-euro aid scheme to finance enrolment in a sports facility, is available from June 1. Usually available in September, this aid is available until December 31, 2024. Beneficiaries, young people aged between 6 and 30 who meet certain criteria (back-to-school allowance, education allowance for disabled children, etc.), should have received a code by e-mail or SMS to present when registering at over 85,000 partner establishments.
In Paris, traffic is already disrupted due to preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games. Between May 30 and June 3, several key areas of the capital, such as the Invalides, Trocadéro and Concorde, will see their access restricted, or even completely closed, to allow for the installation of the infrastructure required for this global event.
From May 30, students will receive admission proposals from higher education institutions via Parcoursup. They must respond within the allotted time. For those who do not receive an offer, the complementary phase will start on June 11, enabling them to make new wishes for the courses still available.
From June 3, the hemisynthetic cannabinoids H4CBD and H2CBD will be banned from sale and consumption due to health risks. The French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines(ANSM) has taken this decision following several reports of serious effects (loss of consciousness, coma, convulsions).
From June onwards, several simplifications to medical procedures will come into force. Pharmacists will be able to issue antibiotic prescriptions for angina and cystitis, and opticians will be able to adjust eyeglass corrections. These measures should free up doctors' time and improve access to care.
From June 1, the Mon Soutien Psy scheme will be upgraded. The reimbursement of psychological support sessions has been increased from 30 to 50 euros, and the number of sessions covered per year has been increased from eight to twelve. What's more, it is no longer necessary to go through a doctor to access this service, as patients can now contact an approved psychologist directly.
In short, here are a number of changes to note and vigilances to adopt, depending on your situation, in this month of June 2024. Don't forget to declare your taxes if you haven't already done so, factor the rise in gas prices into your expenses and remember that pharmacists and ophthalmologistscan sometimes be consulted directly.
