One always finds surprising things in the Seine... This time, the divers of the river brigade and the bomb disposal squad found 154 shells dating from the Second World War, at the level of the quai d'Austerlitz.

The legend of objects found in the Seine continues to grow, as more than 150 World War II shells were found in the river, at the level of the Austerlitz quay, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Divers from the river brigade and deminers from the Laboratoire Central de la Préfecture de police de Paris recovered them during two days, on an area equivalent to a soccer field.

A discovery that could have been dangerous for the magnet fishing enthusiasts who raised the alarm. Fortunately, the pieces had no ignition system. Ammunition including several dozen rounds of ammunition were also collected during the operation.

Magnet fishing is prohibited since 2019 without permission from the administrative authority, and strongly not recommended in the river for these treasure seekers. But the police officers of the river brigade indicate all the same that in case of discovery of this kind, it is important not to handle anything and to call the help as soon as possible.
