Several completely or partially pedestrian areas will be set up from 2024, in the Montmartre neighborhood located in the 18th arrondissement.

There was already a few cars, but there will be even fewer of them by 2024. Pedestrianization works of the Montmartre area were given the green light from Ville de Paris, and will start from late 2023. The news was broken out by 18th arrondissement mayor Eric Lejoindre in Le Journal du Dimanche weekly. To do so, barriers will be placed to ban access to cars. But total pedestrianization remains impossible since most locals have private parking lots.

Therefore, several mixed areas will be found in Montmartre. Furthermore, a hundred trees will be planted in ten streets of the neighborhood during the renovations. Lots of works will be conducted throughout the year, not only in Montmartre but throughout Paris. All these refurbishments are part of a more global project aiming at giving Paris a makeover for the 2024 Olympics. Until then, the Champs-Elysées and more areas will be altered.
