Several organizations are calling for a demonstration on April 14, 2023 in front of the Constitutional Council in Paris, as the Wise Men are about to announce their decision concerning the pension reform and the shared initiative referendum. The Prefecture of Police has issued an order prohibiting gatherings in the vicinity of the institution, in force since April 13 at 6 pm and until April 15 at 8 am. The Louvre-Rivoli metro station on line 1 has also been closed since 5:30 am this Friday.
Calls for demonstrations are coming from social networks, where opponents of the postponement of the legal retirement age are hoping for a censure of the law. The Prefecture of Police fears "serious risks for determined, radical and highly violent elements (...) to respond to these calls and form wild processions with the objective, in addition to going to the surroundings of the Constitutional Council, to attack the forces of order and to commit damage". Gatherings are therefore prohibited near the Constitutional Council, the Council of State and the Opera Garnier.
As for access to the metro, line 1 is forbidden. The RATP announced on social networks that "at the request of the Prefecture of Police, the Louvre-Rivoli station is closed to the public from 05:30. The trains do not stop. The reopening will be done with the authorization of the police".
According to a note from the territorial intelligence, 131 actions are expected in France on Friday evening in reaction to the decision of the Constitutional Council. Despite the bans, it is likely that the demonstrations will take place, in any case, note that it will be impossible to stop at Louvre-Rivoli on this day.
