With about thirty novels and fifty essays, Philippe Sollers was one of the most prolific French writers of the last 60 years. The author of Le Parc died this Saturday, May 6, 2023, announced his publisher, Gallimard.

Born in Talence in 1934, Philippe Sollers published his first writings in the late 1950s with Le Défi, noticed by François Mauriac and Louis Aragon. Le Parc, his first novel published in 1961, received the Prix Médicis. Throughout his life, Philippe Sollers has received numerous awards for his work: Saint-Simon, Montaigne, the BnF, etc. He was even made Commander of the French Army. He was even made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2014.

His final novel, Graal, was published in 2022 by Gallimard, his historical publisher since 1983. With his unique writing and his willingness to abandon the classical style, Philippe Sollers has marked the classical literary landscape for nearly half a century. In recent years, the writer has largely limited the number of his public appearances.
