While we'll soon know where to savor the best galette in Île-de-France, the Syndicat des Boulangers du Grand Paris has lifted the veil on the 2024 results for the best baguette in Val-de-Marne.
This autumn, the department's employers, employees and apprentices were still out in force to try their luck at the coveted title. To convince the jury, competing bakers had to submit their baguettes to the Chambre des Métiers et de l'Artisanat du Val-de-Marne.
After smelling, touching and tasting the various baguettes presented for the occasion, the jury delivered its results on October 14. So, who takes first prize for the best baguette in 94? This year, Matthieu Bijou of Maison Bijou, based in Saint-Maurice, wins in the " Company Managers " category. Eddy Beaulieu, of the Maisons-Alfort bakery Beaulieu, took second place. Nelson Silva Sos Santos, from La Chouquette Dorée bakery in La Varenne-Saint Hilaire, came third.
In the " Employees" category, Audrey Trabach, working at the Aux Trois Petits Mitrons bakery in Sucy-en-Brie, won the competition. She was followed by Mohamed Soilhi of La Chouquette Dorée bakery in La Varenne-Saint Hilaire, and Sébastien Gauthier (Maison Bijou in Saint-Maurice).
