There were 15 of them. 15 to compete for the prize for the very, very best baguette in Paris. Organized by the famous gastronomic program"Très Très Bon", hosted by François-Régis Gaudry and broadcast on Paris Première since 2010, the competition featured the 15 best baguettes in the capital, including those from Maison Louvard in the 9th arrondissement, The French Bastards in the 11th arrondissement, Maison Lohézic in the 17th arrondissement and Léonie Bakery in the 10th arrondissement.
The jury - made up of François-Régis Gaudry,Elisa Gautier and Marie-Laure Fréchet - chose four criteria to decide between the different baguettes created and presented for the occasion: crumb, crust, taste and chewiness.
So, in the end, who came out on top in this 2023 edition of the prize for the very, very good Paris baguette? After deliberation, the Basil bakery-pastry shop came out on top. Located in the capital's 16th arrondissement, and also known for its cinnamon rolls and babkas, this bakery-pâtisserie scored 18/20 for its baguette and won the 2023 prize.
The Basil bakery was followed by the Graine bakery, which took second place with a score of 15.5/20. Finally, the Cyril Lignac patisserie, in the 11th arrondissement, came third with a score of 15.33/20.
