The Essonne 2024 edition of the Best Traditional French Baguette competition has just revealed the names of the winning bakers. So, where do you think you should go to savor the best traditional French baguette of the year? Discover the winners!
In the run-up to the latest edition of the Fête du Pain in Paris, departmental competitions for the best traditional baguette are multiplying. After Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne, it'sEssonne 's turn to unveil the results of its 2024 competition.
For this 9th edition of the gourmet competition, the jury evaluated more than 39 baguettes from the bakeries of Essonne. To decide between them, the jury took into account a number of criteria, including the baguette's appearance, baking, taste, crumb and smell.
At an awards ceremony held on April 4, 2024, the Essonne Chamber of Trades and Crafts revealed the names of the winning bakers, classified into three main categories: apprentices, employees and employers (company directors).
In the latter category, first prize for the best traditional baguette in Essonne 2024 went to Adrien Ozaneaux of the Aux Délices d'Épinay bakery/pastry shop in Épinay-sur-Orge (14 Grande Rue, 91360 Épinay-sur-Orge). He came just ahead of Stéphane Guichard of the Les Petits Gourmands bakery in Athis-Mons (2 rue Valentin Conrart, 91200 Athis-Mons), then Jean-Paul Crosnier of Maison Crosnier in Arpajon (61 Grande Rue, 91290 Arpajon).
In the salaried category, Guillaume Pouyaud of boulangerie-pâtisserie Aux Délices d'Épinay took first place.
Finally, Adrien Sampaio of the Les Petits Gourmands bakery and patisserie took first place in the apprentice category.
