Expect traffic worries in Paris from September 12 to 15 due to the Olympic Parade. The Paris Prefecture de Police has specified traffic modifications ahead of the parade scheduled for this Saturday, September 14, on the Champs-Élysées and Place de l'Étoile, marking the last major celebration of the Paris 2024 Games.
The first parking restrictions have been in force since Wednesday September 11 on avenue Carnot, in the 17th arrondissement, where parking is prohibited until midday on Sunday September 15.
Numerous roads in the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements, around the Champs-Élysées and Place de l'Étoile, will also be affected by a ban on all vehicle parking from 7 a.m. on Friday September 13 until midday on Sunday. It is advisable to anticipate these closures, as access to the areas concerned will be severely restricted.
Traffic will be prohibited in certain areas of the 8th arrondissement such as the Champs-Élysées , as well as on avenue Carnot in the 17th arrondissement, from September 11 at 11:59pm until September 12 inclusive.
Thereafter, the bans will gradually expand to include the 16th and 17th arrondissements, as well as the Alexandre III bridge, from September 14 until the following day. The perimeter of lane closures will be particularly strict on September 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
The event itself promises to be a real spectacle. The grand parade, which will feature not only the athletes, but also members of the Olympic Games organization, volunteers and some government representatives, will begin at 4 pm. The parade will continue until 6 p.m., and will be followed by a festive evening , starting with a concert at 9 p.m. and concluding with a DJ set from 11 p.m. to midnight.
To facilitate access to the festivities while respecting the measures put in place, it is strongly recommended to use public transport, as traffic zones will be reduced. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the spirit of the Games one last time, and to celebrate the success of this historic event in Paris.
