It will be the eastern ring-road of the Grand Paris metro network! With its 27.5 km of track, line 16 will link the Noisy-Champs station to the Saint-Denis Pleyel station by 2028, crossing two departments of the Paris region and serving 10 stations. Here's everything you need to know about this future metro line of the Grand Paris Express.

As the days go by, the Grand Paris Express network takes shape. With its four future automatic lines - lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 - this public transport network is designed to make it easier for the people of Ile-de-France to get around the capital.

One line in particular perfectly illustrates the spirit of the Grand Paris Express: line 16. With its 27.5 km of track, the opening of this future metro line is designed to develop the eastern part of the metropolis, serving " towns currently poorly served by public transport " such as Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil, as well as the Descartes university campus in Champs-sur-Marne and Noisy-Champs, and the Plaine Saint-Denis business park.

Line 16 of the Grand Paris Express will pass through a dozen communes, mainly in the Seine-Saint-Denis département, such as Saint-Denis, La Courneuve, Le Bourget, Le Blanc-Mesnil, Aulnay-sous-Bois, Sevran, Clichy-sous-Bois and Noisy-le-Grand, but also in the Seine-et-Marne region, including Montfermeil, Chelles and Champs-sur-Marne. A total of 10 stations are scheduled to open on this line, providing a link between Saint-Denis Pleyel and Noisy-Champs in less than 30 minutes!

Among the most emblematic stations on this future line 16 is the Parc du Blanc-Mesnil station, from which passengers will be able to reach the Saint-Denis Pleyel station in just 10 minutes by 2026, compared with 51 minutes today.

Saint-Denis - Pleyel station, freshly inaugurated last June, will be located at the crossroads of 4 lines (lines 14, 15, 16 and 17). With platforms 28 meters underground and nine levels, four of which are underground, Saint-Denis Pleyel station will become " an interline interchange platform where the generosity of the volumes and the peaceful atmosphere contribute to the legibility of journeys ".

Another station expected on line 16? The La Courneuve - Six Routes station, with its industrial-scale architecture, green facade and roof.

Finally, at the other end of this future line 16, there will be the Noisy - Champs station, whose platforms will be located between 13.5 and 21 meters underground. Passengers will discover no less than three underground levels.

Another special feature? As indicated by the Société des grands projets, in charge of designing and building the Grand Paris Express network, line 16 will share a 6.4-km-long tunnel with line 17, linking the Saint-Denis - Pleyel, La Courneuve - Six Routes and Le Bourget stations.
