In the coming weeks and months, public transport in the Paris region will be undergoing a number of changes. The opening of the Villejuif - Gustave Roussy station on line 14, the commissioning of the Île-de-France's first cable car and the arrival of new trains on metro line 10... users will be able to discover several new features in 2025, before the inauguration of line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, now scheduled for summer 2026.
Another new feature is sure to be the talk of the town. Have you ever heard of the Tzen 4? Heralded as " a world first ", the Tzen 4 is a 24-meter-long, 100% electric bus. It is due to replace the current 402 bus line along a 14-km stretch of the Essonne region in 2025. In detail, the Tzen 4 will run between "La Treille" in Viry-Châtillon and the Corbeil-Essonnes RER station, considered by Île-de-France Mobilités to be the " busiest section of the outer suburbs ".
Much more than just a bus, the Tzen 4 is a " bi-articulated bus " that can accommodate up to 140 people, compared with 100 on the current line 402. In addition to being " more comfortable ", this new bus is also intended to be " more efficient ", thanks to dedicated lanes on most of the line and priority at junctions, as well as " more respectful of the environment ". For example, the Tzen 4 will be able to be " recharged on the ground in less than 5 minutes "!
According to Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), more than 40,000 passengers are expected to use the Tzen 4 every day. It will pass through 5 communes (for a total of 30 stations), serving strategic neighborhoods such as the Grande Borne district and the ZAC Centre-ville in Grigny, the Plateau and Canal districts in Évry-Courcouronnes, the Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien and the ZAC de la Montagne des Glaises in Corbeil-Essonnes.
Ahead of the arrival of the Tzen 4, scheduled for 2025, the current line 402 will be renamed 4206 from January 6. It will run on the Tzen 4 exclusive right-of-way, with an enhanced service. A bus will run every 7 minutes during weekday rush hours, and every 10 to 15 minutes at weekends.
