Every year, the Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums ) invites us to rediscover our heritage in a different way, through a program of night-time visits, often free of charge, with the added bonus of entertainment, concerts, workshops and other surprises. For the occasion, museums, castles, monuments and other institutions are waiting to reveal their secrets for an evening full of discoveries. This year's event will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
If you're in the Yvelines region, you can look forward to a great program for this Nuit des Musées 2025. Among the treasures of this region's heritage, the town of Rambouillet boasts a historical nugget absolutely worth a visit: the Palais du Roi de Rome.
Built in the early 19th century under Napoleon I, this palace was originally designed to house his son, the King of Rome, also known as Napoleon II. This architectural gem, combining neoclassical and Empire styles, bears witness to the ambition and genius of the Napoleonic era. Every nook and cranny of the palace exudes history, with its sumptuous frescoes, ornate ceilings and magnificent formal gardens, where you'll love to stroll and escape.
