Paris 2024 Olympics: bus traffic modified, 16 routes affected

While several metro lines are likely to be packed with users and tourists during the Paris 2024 Olympics, several bus lines will be disrupted. Due to the temporary competition venues set up in several areas of the capital, some bus routes will be diverted or limited. Find out more about the 16 bus routes affected by these changes.

This summer, all eyes will be on Paris for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. But these Games are also dreaded by many Parisians, especially public transport users. Some metro stations near the Olympic venues are likely to be packed, while others will be closed.

With the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, many Parisians are worried about public transport ridership. Bus traffic will not be spared either during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Some lines will even be impacted before the Paris Olympics, due to the assembly of several temporary sites. A total of 7 ephemeral sites will be set up in Paris, including 6 dedicated to the competitions.

Due to the installation of several temporary competition sites linked to this summer's Olympic Games, the City of Paris has announced a series of upcoming disruptions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. These sites, located on the Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tower and the Champ-de-Mars, as well as on theesplanade des Invalides and the Pont Alexandre III, all require time to set up. The consequence? Several bus routes crossing the areas in question will be diverted, operated in two sections, or even limited depending on the events planned, such as the opening ceremony.

" Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP will gradually modify bus traffic in the vicinity of the sites as soon as they are set up, in order to guarantee continuity of public transport service and maintain service in Paris as far as possible," announces the City of Paris on its website.

So, which bus lines are affected by these changes? According to the City of Paris, 6 bus lines will be affected between March and April. These include buses operating in the Champ-de-Mars, Place du Trocadéro, Grand Palais and Esplanade des Invalides areas, i.e. routes 32, 42, 63, 69, 72 and 86.

Then, between May and June, these changes will affect 16 bus lines running on the Champ-de-Mars, Place du Trocadéro, Grand Palais and Place de la Concorde. These are bus routes N°28, 30, 32, 42, 45, 63, 69, 72, 73, 82, 83, 84, 86, 87, 93, 94. Noctilien lines 1, 2, 11 and 24 will also be affected.
