The first events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are underway! To support your favorite athletes in the stands, don't make a blunder on the choice of flag ... Discover the restrictions;

Avis aux supporters des Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024 - As the first Olympic events get underway, here's the ultimate tip for showing your support for the athletes without a false note: only the flags of the participating nations will be allowed in the grandstand! Regional flags will, in theory, be forbidden...

"It is forbidden to bring into all official Paris 2024 venues flags (current and historical) of countries whose athletes are admitted to participate exclusively as neutral individual athletes, as well as any other object likely to be associated with these countries," states the Paris 2024 website.

With the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games imminent, a quick reminder is in order. According to the Paris 2024 Games regulations, only "the flags of the countries and territories participating in the Games" are allowed. Palestinian flags are accepted, since Palestine has been granted an official delegation for the event.

Conversely, supporters of the few Russian and Belarusian athletes taking part in the competition under a neutral banner (without displaying their country's colors) are prohibited from carrying Russian or Belarusian flags. Regional flags such as those of Brittany, the Basque Country or Touraine are also forbidden, as are rigid flagpoles, the sleeves to which banners are attached.

In addition to these rules, there are size restrictions: no more than 2 meters long and 1 meter wide!

So, get ready to go out and cheer!
