A number of sporting disciplines have a few surprises in store, including boxing, climbing, breaking and taekwondo.
A combat sport of South Korean origin, taekwondo made its Olympic debut at the 1988 Seoul Games, but only as a demonstration sport. In 2000, taekwondo was definitively included in the Olympic program at the Sydney Games. That year, four competitions were organized for men and women.
