This year's Journées du Patrimoine 2024 will be held on September 21 and 22. This is an opportunity to discover places that are opening their doors especially for the event, such as the Académie Nationale de la Chirurgie in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

The Journées du Patrimoine 2024, taking place this year on September 21 and 22, enable the public to discover monuments, museums and historic sites, often closed during the rest of the year, free of charge or at a reduced rate. Launched in France in 1984, the initiative has since spread throughout Europe, promoting the discovery and preservation of cultural heritage.

The 2024 Heritage Days are the perfect opportunity to delve into the heart of France's medical past with a guided tour of theAcadémie Nationale de Chirurgie. Located in the heart of Paris in the 6th arrondissement, this emblematic institution opens its doors to the general public to reveal its hidden treasures. Founded in 1731 as the "Société Royale de Chirurgie" by Georges Mareschal, surgeon to King Louis XV, the Academy is a place steeped in history, where generations of surgeons have left their mark on the history of medicine. Today, it encourages and supports surgical research in France, notably by awarding prizes and distinctions for contributions to the field.
