After lighting up the Paris skyline for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games, the Olympic cauldron has remained within the Jardin des Tuileries, where the general public can discover it every day from 10am to 7pm, provided they have a reservation ticket. Since then - and until the end of the Games on August 11, 2024 - this particularly innovative cauldron takes to the skies every evening at dusk, to the delight of Parisians and tourists alike, who come to admire it then.
If you've managed to get a closer look at the Olympic cauldron, by reserving a place in one of the slots on offer, you may have noticed one detail: at the security checkpoint, all visitors are required to leave their flags with them (or in their bags).
"The Olympic Committee (IOC, editor's note) wants the Vasque, and consequently the Olympic flame, to remain as neutral as possible," explains one of the volunteers on site. No flags bearing the effigy of your country of origin or the one you support, to avoid the Vasque no longer reflecting the universal values of Olympism, as expected. So, to ensure that this intention is respected as far as possible, the flags are simply left at the security checkpoint: once your visit to the Vasque is over, you can, of course, pick them up on your way out.
