The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games came to a close on September 8, 2024 with a more than positive result for France, which took home 75 medals, including 19 golds, ranking 8th on the medal table. A result worthy of the ambitions for the French Paralympic team, who now look ahead to Los Angeles 2028 with the desire to do even better!

The goal has been reached!Team France shone at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which took place from August 28 to September 8, 2024. And with what results? A total of 75 medals, including 19 gold... The French delegation thus achieved its objective: to rank among the top eight nations in the medal rankings. An encouraging result for French Paralympic sport, which is already preparing for the next Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

A historic performance hailed by Claude Onesta, High Performance Manager at the FrenchNational Sports Agency, who expressed " a great deal of pride " in the results. Indeed, the French team has raised the bar compared to previous editions, tripling the number of medals won since Rio 2016 and doubling the gold titles. Marie-Amélie Le Fur, President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, is delighted with this " balance sheet that lives up to the ambitions " set.

Among the disciplines that contributed most to this success, para-cycling stood out with almost 40% of French podium finishes, while para-sport and para-swimming also scored highly. However, there is still room for improvement, particularly in table tennis, judo andfencing, disciplines in which France has great potential, but which failed to live up to expectations in terms of medals.

The ambition is now clear: to do better in Los Angeles in 2028, betting on an increased conversion of medals into gold. As the resigning Minister for Sport, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, points out, France must draw inspiration from the Netherlands, which, with 55 medals, won 26 titles. This is a winning strategy if France is to become one of the top Paralympic nations and strengthen its presence in team sports, as in the case of cecifoot, which nevertheless shone, with a gold medal for France. See you in 2028!
