Steven Spielberg, one of cinema's most iconic directors, brings us back to the thrilling world ofIndiana Jones in 2008, with Harrison Ford reprising his legendary role as the archaeologist-adventurer. Written by David Koepp and George Lucas, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull continues the saga with a new adventure set in the 1950s, at the height of the Cold War. The film also stars Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) as Mutt, and Karen Allen reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood, while introducing a formidable new enemy, Soviet agent Irina Spalko, played by Cate Blanchett.
In 1957, at the height of the Cold War, Indiana Jones finds himself at the heart of a new adventure as he narrowly escapes a gang of Soviet agents in the desert southwest of the United States. Back at Marshall College, Indy learns that he is now a suspect in the eyes of the U.S. government because of his recent activities, leading to his dismissal. As he leaves town, he meets Mutt, a rebellious young biker, who offers him a deal: in exchange for his help, Mutt will guide Indy to the mysterious Akator Crystal Skull, an ancient relic shrouded in mystery and superstition.
The duo travel to Peru, a place steeped in mystery, where they soon discover they're not the only ones on the trail of the Crystal Skull. Soviet agents, led by the implacable Irina Spalko, are also out to get their hands on this legendary relic, believing it confers immeasurable power on its possessor. In a race against time, Indy and Mutt must face numerous dangers, avoid betrayal and prevent the Crystal Skull from falling into the wrong hands.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will appeal to die-hard fans of the Indiana Jones saga and lovers of epic adventure films. Blending action, archaeological exploration and supernatural elements, this film is distinguished by its 1950s atmosphere, an era marked by the paranoia of the Cold War. Audiences who grew up with the previous installments will be delighted to rediscover the charm and intrepid spirit of Indiana Jones, while newcomers will discover an iconic character in adventure cinema.
