Concord, a multiplayer FPS by Firewalk Studios, has been taking you into space on PS5 and PC since August 23, 2024, but PlayStation announced on September 3, 2024 that it was putting an end to sales of the game, and shutting down the servers on September 6, due to poor sales. A 5 versus 5 game that propels you into the Concord galaxy, where each mission is a unique adventure...
In Concord, players take on the role of the Freegunners, a group of intrepid mercenaries operating from the starship Northstar. More than just soldiers, Freegunners are highly skilled professionals with a variety of skills ranging from tactical attacks to ingenious defensive abilities. Each character offers a distinct style of play, promising unpredictable, strategic confrontations.
One of the most attractive aspects of Concord is the depth of its universe. Inspired by the greatest works of science fiction, this game offers a galaxy in constant evolution, regularly enriched by new content. Players will discover the story of each crew member through weekly cinematics, revealing their past, their motivations and the dangers of life as a Freegunner.
Our opinion on Concord :
So, what's Concord worth...? On the whole, it's not bad at all. Graphically speaking, the software is quite pretty, well realized in detail and very pleasant to look at, whether it's the cinematics or the game itself. A good point that makes Concord stand out from other games in the same genre.
In terms of gameplay, it's simple but terribly effective. Highly dynamic, relatively short gameplay means that Concord never gets boring. The maps are quite varied, as is the initial roster, which allows you to try out different types of weapons and approaches to complete the mission. Then it's up to you to decide which character you're best at to win your games. Another good point, but one that deserves to be explored further: the story surrounding the Freegunners, but we have no doubt that this is in the pipeline, in the not-too-distant future.
On the other hand, we regret the lack of available modes, which quickly becomes tiresome. You quickly run out of missions, and boredom could well set in. Another negative point: its price, around 40 euros. That's a bit steep for this kind of software, when you can find PvP games that are similar in every respect at lower prices, or even for free. And the software's graphic quality doesn't make up for this inconvenience.
Nonetheless, Concord is an interesting PvP in its approach to the genre, even if this type of game isn't our genre, or at least not for us, given that we lose almost systematically. But the challenge is well worth it! Too bad the servers are closing!
A game for multiplayer shooter fans, skilfully blending strategy, action and a rich narrative. All you have to do is embark on this galactic adventure while there's still time!
