Our review of Infection Origins at The Gate VR:
A VR experience that the editors were able to test... And it was generally positive. To begin with, a good point inherent to the brand, and not to the game: the lightness of the virtual reality headset, far less heavy than most wireless headsets of this type. A super-pleasant headset to wear, and well worth mentioning, not to mention the other rather well-thought-out adjustment options (sharpness, sound, etc.). A state-of-the-art HTC Vive headset, in short, and more than welcome for this type of experience.
Now for the game: graphically speaking, don't expect to play a visually impeccable game worthy of the best console games. This is VR, and graphically, it's hard to come close to what you'll find on consoles. And beyond that, it's not what we want from the game. But it's worth pointing out that the software is visually well done and very fluid. You'll come out without motion sickness or headaches, in short, what more could you ask for...?
As for the story, it's concise, direct and to the point... Just what we've been waiting for. The base phase allows you to get to grips with space and movement, and practice your shooting, then comes the subway entrance, with the management of safes and the first zombie kill. It's easy to get into the game, which is really designed to take you step by step. Perhaps the best way to approach this type of game.
Then the waves follow, and so do the puzzles. It's well thought-out, and the enemies, while they may surprise you, won't make you jump through hoops. Ideal for those not necessarily at ease with this type of game. For other horror fans, the game is challenging enough to keep you entertained and coming back for more. As for us, we didn't see the twenty minutes of experience go by... Further proof, if proof were needed, that the game was a lot of fun. Beware, however: allied fire is active, and aiming is not optimal (it's a bit of a judgment call, unless you find a rifle with laser targeting).
This is a program for both fans of the genre and those wishing to discover the world of zombie shooters, even if this isn't your cup of tea. Even if horror movies scare the hell out of you, the experience is largely doable, even for you, ideal for entering this complex and, in a way, quite frightening universe. All you have to do is make up your own mind!
Note that the VR game Infection Origins can be played by 2 to 4 people simultaneously, aged 14 and over. It is accessible to people with reduced mobility, provided they can stand up and move around slightly. The adventure is also available in English. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the session. So, shall we book a session at The Gate VR?
