The Children without Cancer City solidarity race by the Imagine for Margo association in Paris La Défense

The Imagine for Margo association, which has been organizing the Children Without Cancer race in Saint-Cloud and connected since 2012, launched the 1st edition of the Children Without Cancer City race in La Défense in 2018, in order to mobilize companies and individuals in and around the Paris business district.

On June 1, this urban race will make its return to the square in front of La Défense. For a few hours, all the runners of La Défense and the Ile-de-France region will be able to make their strides of solidarity echo and run for a world with children without cancer.

Indeed, this year, the participants will mobilize for the CoBioRB program resulting from the Fight Kids Cancer call for projects. This program, against retinoblastoma, will aim to identify genetic biomarkers to improve the treatment administered.

Three editions organized in 2018, 2019 and 2022:

More than 2,500 runners, 80 participating companies and 579,000 euros raised that allowed to fund 3 research programs:

SACHA study in 2022, to ensure safe access to drugs outside of clinical trials. With this program, Imagine for Margo allows all children with cancer to benefit from the same opportunities to access innovative treatments and research advances.
BIOMEDE IA in 2019, the first artificial intelligence program on infiltrating brain stem gliomas, a pediatric cancer with a very poor prognosis.
SELUDEX in 2018, a therapeutic trial on anaplastic large cell lymphoma.

Why run?

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children in France and Europe. 1 in 440 children develop cancer before the age of 15. Despite scientific progress and advances in recent years, for 20% of children and adolescents with cancer, no treatment is yet available. Cancer research is mainly focused on adult cancers, as childhood cancers are considered rare diseases with more than 100 different types. Very little funding is therefore allocated to pediatrics. This is why Imagine for Margo has been mobilizing since its creation in 2011 and organizes the Children without Cancer solidarity races; a festive and friendly event that mobilizes people around the cause and collects donations for research.

The program:

11:00 am: Opening of the village and beginning of the animations, withdrawal of the bibs
12:30 pm: Warm-up session with sports coaches,
1pm: Start of the race (5 or 10km) or walk (5km),
2pm: Stretching session with sports coaches,
2:10 pm: Awarding of prizes for the best collections, speeches, presentation of the check
15h : End of the event
