The Rugby World Cup 2023 is just around the corner! In two months' time, on September 8, the competition will kick off at the Stade de France, with what promises to be an exceptional opening ceremony, ahead of the match between host nation France and New Zealand.
While many extras will be taking part in the ceremony on a voluntary basis, the organizers have announced that French actor Jean Dujardin will be in charge of the event. An avid rugby fan, the actor co-wrote the script andwill play one of the main roles in the scenes, in the silent film style he knows so well!
An Oscar winner for his role in The Artist in 2012, Jean Dujardin is very familiar with this theme, and has worked hand in hand with show designer Olivier Ferracci and director Nora Matthey de l'Endroit. Some thirty French celebrities will also be taking part, including Philippe Lachaud, chef Guy Savoy and prima ballerina Alice Renavand.
The ceremony, due to start at 8pm in Saint-Denis, will celebrate"France and its culture in a live theatrical performance" and highlight "French savoir-faire and art de vivre, its rich heritage and its passion for sport, while commemorating the bicentenary of rugby".
