In the half-light, we inhale the scent of burnt sage, lying on our mat. "Close your eyes if you wish," says teacher Marie at the start of the session. Then the flow begins, a series of postures - head-down dog, head-up dog, plank, chair - to work on flexibility and strength in a gentle, or almost gentle, way.
"I wanted to offer yoga classes accessible to all levels, in semi-darkness and with music, so that people could enjoy a non-judgmental experience", explains Louise, RIISE's experience director,"the concept mixes vinyasa yoga with a cardio and muscle-strengthening side, to strengthen the body, gain mobility and sweat". Connect with yourself to stretch, strengthen and loosen up: RIISE offers a moment out of time, disconnected from the hustle and bustle of city life. And with good reason: in the studio, no screens are allowed (except the computer screen for the playlist), and phones are forbidden to allow total disconnection.
For an hour, you slow down, take a break and listen to a pop playlist (to work on your cardio) or an instrumental playlist (for softer moments). Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, whether you're athletic or not, the classes are really accessible to all (and the cardio micro-moments are an integral part of the course).
RIISE has two studios in Paris: one on rue Charlot, the other on rue Etienne Marcel, near Châtelet. Prices range from €19 to €29 per session. To take part in a yoga session, simply reserve your mat on the concept's website. For an hour, you take the time to breathe, blow and plunge completely into a state of well-being, to which you can't wait to return as soon as the session is over.
