To mark the tenth anniversary of International Yoga Day, the Maison de l'UNESCO invites you to discover a playful exhibition on this age-old practice, from June 15 to 21, 2024. This free experience is led by Maitre Yoga, who guides you through the art and history of yoga, with contemplative moments and practical exercises.
Here, amidst works of art, we discover a wealth of entertaining information about yoga, a Sanskrit word meaning "to be one with oneself", and a discipline that has evolved over almost 5,000 years. In a sensory space with sound immersion linked to yogic breathing, we explore the links between sport and the practice of yoga through interviews with top athletes and podcasts.
The image of the yogi has changed, from the ascetic of days gone by, to the modern man and woman who do their after-work session to unwind from their day and regenerate. Thanks to playful devices, such as a meditation scale or a wheel of postures for children, as well as the presence of teachers, visitors can try out various practices and understand the benefits of yoga.
There's plenty of opportunity to practise eye, finger and postural yoga in dedicated areas with a relaxing, meditative atmosphere. 32 workshops are open to all, as are masterclasses, a film meditation and a special Fête de la Musique evening, all of which require registration. Don't forget to reserve your free place to enter the exhibition, as the Maison de l'Unesco is a secure area!
