After the Vallée de Chevreuse, known for its magnificent hiking trails, picturesque villages and bucolic spots, we now present the Haute Vallée de la Bièvre, a listed natural area in the Yvelines department!
From spring to autumn, as soon as the sun comes out (or as soon as it doesn't rain), the Paris region is ideal for a wide range of hikes. Particularly well served from Paris by the various RER and Transilien lines, opt for a change of scenery less than an hour from the capital, to spend the day in the fresh air and discover the region from a new angle.
The Haute Vallée de la Bièvre is a protected natural site located just 15 kilometers from the capital: it refers to the natural area surrounding the Bièvre, a small river 35 kilometers long that flows through Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine and Val-de-Marne before emptying into the Seine.
If you have a little time left - and especially if your chosen hiking itinerary takes you close to the site - we strongly advise you to discover Victor Hugo's Maison Littéraire, which is open to visitors every Saturday afternoon, with its large landscaped park and man-made lake.
Finally, if you'd like to pedal in from Paris, that's also possible, as the Maison littéraire is very close to the Véloscénie itinerary, which links Paris to Mont Saint-Michel: in fact, we cycled through it on our trip from Paris to Versailles, making it an accessible day trip for the whole family.
