Attention opera buffs! This winter, Paris invites you to discover " L'île de Tulipatan ", a one-act operetta by Jacques Offenbach, with libretto by Henri Chivot and Alfred Duru. Aimed at young and old alike, this famous opera takes over four different venues in the capital for the occasion.
First, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Mairie du 9e arrondissement. Then off to the Centre Ken Saro-Wiwa, in the 20th arrondissement, on Saturday February 15, followed by the Mairie de Paris Centre on Tuesday February 18. The last performance is scheduled for Friday, February 21 at the Mairie du 14e arrondissement de Paris.
This short show (lasting around 1 hour), in French, is presented by the young troupe Les Bavards. Made up of five singers and nine passionate musicians, this chamber opera troupe's mission is to produce free shows on a regular basis, in order to " bring the operetta repertoire to life ". Each year, Les Bavards organizes 6 performances in town halls, Ephad homes and hospitals.
This winter, it's time for Offenbach's " Tulipatan Island " , a fable about gender and the boundaries that separate men and women. Please note that this show is free, but by invitation only. Visit the Les Bavards website to reserve your free tickets.
