It’s one of the greatest exhibitions in 2018. Margiela, the Hermès years, displayed ad MAD (aka Musée des Arts Décoratifs) in Paris, will return on the women’s ready-to-wear collections by the famous Belgian designer for Hermès, so, 12 collections representing a modern luxury spanning from 1997 to 2003.
For six years, Margiela will surprise Hermès aficionados with monochromes, constructed and deconstructed cuts, oversize volumes, far from the historic image of the brand. A decision all the more surprising that Hermès has always collaborated with famous designer and that Martin Margiela refuses to show up in public (still today, just a few people have seen his face!) and that the designer also has his own brand, Maison Martin Margiela, which motto is comfort, timelessness, sensuality, authenticity.
These many assets make Margiela x Hermès collaboration one of the most surprising and boldest collaborations in the history of Fashion. 1997-2003, six years during which Martin Margiela instills, through 12 collections, a coherent and deep vision of a modern luxury in the history of Hermès, while he continues offering a minimalist style with his own collections.
A wonderful exhibition!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
