Patrick Rimoux is a French artist with an impressive CV: light sculptor in charge of the interior illumination of Notre-Dame de Paris, he has worked in New Delhi, Johannesburg, Brussels, New York ... Thanks to his unique know-how, the Frenchman has earned a reputation as a magician: thanks to the skilfully controlled play of light, the artist seems to bring his works to life.
From January 20 to March 18, 2023, it is at the Minsky gallery that we can discover his work. Patrick Rimoux invites us to come and admire his exhibition Coup de foudre, which mixes his passion for cinema with his talents as a light sculptor.
This free exhibition allows us to discover different paintings made from 35mm film stock. These works are impressive to see, but when they come to life, they take on a whole new dimension. Thanks to a very particular working technique, the artist can tell his own stories, from a simple reworked film.
Patrick Rimoux has been a film buff since he was a child and pays tribute to the masterpieces of the seventh art that have marked him. References to Fritz Lang, Stanley Donen or Marcel Carné are visible in his fascinating and complex compositions.
In this exhibition, the artist explores love at first sight in all its forms, reproducing, with his expertise, this illumination that illuminates all those who have been struck by this love. Passionate love, tragedy, endless intrigues, improbable relationships, brotherly love or friendship, unconditional love of a parent... In cinema, love is beautiful, sometimes chaotic, sometimes unusual, but it touches everyone.
Come and discover this beautiful tribute to love and cinema, seen through the eyes of artist Patrick Rimoux, at the Minsky Gallery.
