Yellow, green, red, blue, pink... Objects in all directions, an abundance of elements... And almost invisible women. The artist Patty Carroll takes us into her unique and colorful universe, with her new exhibition organized from February 18th to March 25th 2023.
This free exhibition, entitled Anonymous women, gathers about twenty photographs, divided into four chapters. At first glance, these images seem mostly funny, extravagant, surprising. On closer inspection, we discover the (not so) hidden message that the artist wanted to convey in her photographs.
Patty Carroll wants to illustrate " metaphors of the inner life of women; how we substitute everyday objects and artifices and turn them into obsessions ". The image and role of women are questioned through these stagings inspired by the caricatured representations of the 50s.
Between humor and denunciation, the artist illustrates the invisibilization and victimization of women, lost in the roles they must assume, the missions they must accomplish, the appearances they must maintain. This committed exhibition makes us think, while entertaining us. A double function, which reveals all the talents of Patty Carroll.
Patty Carroll's works are also on display in several metro stations, from February 1st to March 18th. Don't miss this beautiful exhibition, which gives us the opportunity to discover the work of a great contemporary artist!
