Every year, more and more frescoes by talented urban artists cover the façades of buildings in the capital. The 13th arrondissement, for example, has become a favorite spot for many street artists, including Seth, Shepard Fairey and Inti. Events are also regularly organized in Paris, each time revealing the creativity of these wildly talented artists.
This autumn, it's time for the new and third edition of " #l_équipée", an artistic event with Portuguese-born self-taught artist L'Empreinte Jo V at the helm, once again supported by volunteers Murielle, Anne, Nath and Franck. Known for his works depicting the faces of children, women and men, both well-known and anonymous, and often marked with a small red heart, L'Empreinte Jo V has already exhibited at Lavo//Matik. Several of his frescoes can also be found on Paris walls, as at Spot 13.
As the saying goes, never two without three! After organizing the first two editions of " #l_équipée "last February and May, L'Empreinte Jo V announces the return of this free collective street art event, dubbed"L'équipée 3".
To be discovered for one weekend only, this Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 2024, the event unveils the frescoes of some twenty emerging and well-known street artists in an emblematic bar, located in the east of the capital, in the mythical Belleville district to be exact.
As for the line-up, get ready to admire the works of 25 different artists, including L'Empreinte Jo V of course, but also Nexer, the young and talented 2li, Raphaelle Emery, les Poulpeuses, Diane, aubi_art, and Maca, the artist now known for having created a fresco in Val-de-Marne in "support" of Gisèle Pelicot.
So where exactly should you go to discover these multiple works on December 7 and 8? " #l_équipée "has lifted the veil on the exact address where to admire them. Direction Au Saumur, located at N°10 rue de Belleville in Paris. And we were lucky enough to get a sneak preview!
An opportunity to discover this 250 m² venue, which is truly steeped in history. It was here, in fact, that the Folies-Belleville establishment was established, bringing together cabaret halls, public meetings, café-théâtre, music-hall and cinema. Then,"in the 20th century, this very popular venue played host to the great names of French chanson", explains L'Empreinte Jo V. Located on the corner of rue Dénoyez (Paris's most famous street art street), the venue has played host to the likes of Charles Aznavour, Line Renaud and the Frères Jacques. Édith Piaf also sang here in her early days. It has to be said that the artist lived just a few meters up the rue de Belleville. After the bar had been closed for around ten years, and the Paris City Council had decided to close it down, Au Saumur rose from the ashes and reopened its doors!
Last Thursday, we entered this historic site, where the basement is still to be fitted out for a cabaret. But above all, we discovered the twenty or so works created for the occasion, including one by L'Empreinte Jo V. This time, the street artist wanted to create a transparent fresco, featuring British actress Vivien Leigh, from"Gone with the Wind".
Not far away are the works of Lia Despas and BNJ. Together, the two Le Havre-based acolytes have imagined two faces, one festive and glittery, the other darker. A little further on, we find the recognizable style of Fragola de la Vega and Les Poulpeuses, or the two sublime works of young 2li and Loch Stencils. And let's not forget the remarkable work of Lyon-based artist Stéphanie Roux and Caroline Montigneaux, each of whom created their first wall for the occasion!
We head for the basement, with its undeniable cachet thanks to its stone walls. Here, the frescoes are bigger, with the bewitching eyes of E v o k, the touching monkey of Horss, or the impressive, colorful portrait of Nexer.
To discover the results of"L'équipée 3" with your own eyes, come to Belleville au Saumur on December 7 and 8, 2024! The event also features a number of activities throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to meet the artists, as well as discover live painting, a Christmas shop and a concert on Saturday, featuring 14 Coffees and Velours by MEG. Please note that the event opens at 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday.
