Discover the history of street art at a free exhibition on three floors of the Villa Médicis in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (94). Join us from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, June 9, 2024 to decipher street art through the works on display by some of the biggest names in the business, including Invader, Banksy, Miss. Tic, Seth, Hopare, Gregos, Hush and Sax.

Attention street art fans! The history of urban art is recounted in a unique, free exhibition to be discovered this spring in the Val-de-Marne. From Saturday May 4 to Sunday June 9, 2024, the Maison des arts et de la culture - Villa Médicis, located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, opens its doors to the exhibition " Le décryptage de l'art de rue " .

For a little over a month, urban art lovers and the curious are invited to this Parisian venue to admire the works of a number of big names in the field, including Invader, the mysterious and inescapable Banksy, the late Miss. Tic, and globe-painter Seth, known for his frescoes of faceless children.

Works by many other talented street artists are also on display, including Hopare, Gregos, Raf Urban, Jo Di Bona, Felipe Pantone, Speedy Graphito and Jordane Saget... In all, 115 works by 115 of the genre's greatest street artists can be admired on site.

Spread over the three floors of the Villa Medici, the exhibition traces the history of street art, from its origins to its most recent expressions.

On the first floor, the pioneers of the movement, their techniques and messages, are on display. You can admire the work of Seth, Invader, Miss. Tic, Banksy, Jef Aérosol and Nasty.

On the second floor, the installation demonstrates the extent to which urban art continues to question society, with a series of works by a number of international artists, including Germany's Akut, Britain's Hush and Portugal's Bordalo II.

Finally, on the second floor of Villa Medici, visitors can discover a new generation of street artists including Sax, Toctoc, Ardif, Afghan artist Shamsia Hassani, Mathieu Lucas and Ensemble Réel!

Behind this"institutional" exhibition are the town of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and Urban Signature. Described as " France's leading bespoke street art company ", Urban Signature has already been behind a number of fine installations in the capital in recent years. These include works by Sax, Vinie and Hopare. This time around, Urban Signature is crossing the ring road to offer a brand-new artistic event that is sure to delight the eyes of urban art enthusiasts.

In other good news, the exhibition will be punctuated by a number of events, including lectures and live painting by Crey 132 on Saturday June 8 from 3pm.

So, why not push open the doors of the Villa Médicis and discover street art through the works of some of the biggest names in urban art? Don't miss the exhibition " Le décryptage de l'art de rue ", scheduled from May 4 to June 9, 2024 in Val-de-Marne. Note that the exhibition is open to the public free of charge from Tuesday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm (except public holidays).
